Exploring the vast coastline of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom leads adventurers to numerous hidden subterranean locations. Among these secret spots, Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave stands out as a unique coastal cavern tucked beneath the steep cliffs of East Necluda. Finding this coastal landmark requires careful navigation along the Necluda Sea and solving a subtle environmental puzzle.

Locating Cape Cales Cliffbase Cave on the Hyrule Map

To reach this hidden cavern, players must venture to the southeastern edge of the East Necluda region overlooking the Necluda Sea. The exact coordinates for the cave entrance are located around 3650, -3211, -0006 at the water line below Cape Cales. The most convenient fast-travel point for this journey is the nearby Bamitok Shrine situated atop the surrounding cliffs.

From the high terrain near the shrine, travelers can leap off the cliff edges and glide downward toward the roaring ocean below. Alternatively, players can construct a simple raft or sail along the Necluda Sea coast to approach the cliffbase directly from the water. Keep an eye out for a small wooden platform anchored near the rock face marking the general entrance area.

Unlocking the Sealed Cavern Entrance

Upon arriving at the entrance coordinates, players will encounter a sealed stone door blocking passage into the cave. This obstacle is tied directly to the Misko's Treasure: Pirate Manuscript quest line, which provides a key clue for opening the path. The riddle hints at producing a shrill wind sound to gain entry into the pirate's sanctuary.

To open the massive stone portal, stand on the wooden platform directly in front of the door and press the whistle button. Whistling triggers the ancient mechanism, causing the stone barrier to slide open and reveal the water-filled passage within. This simple action allows players to navigate deeper into the flooded cavern without wasting weapon durability or explosive resources.

Exploring the Pirate Cavern and Ship

Once inside, players will discover a massive subterranean grotto containing an abandoned pirate vessel resting in the water. Navigating through the flooded passage is best accomplished by building a small motorized raft using Zonai devices like a fan and steering stick. Navigating across the water brings players directly beneath the hull of the imposing wooden ship.

To board the vessel easily, align your raft beneath the deck and utilize Link's Ascend ability to pass straight through the wooden flooring. The ship is guarded by several skeletal enemies that will attack upon sight, so prepare for close-quarters combat. Focus your attacks on the heads of these skeletal foes to eliminate them quickly and clear the main deck.

Collecting Treasure and Finding the Bubbulfrog

Clearing the ship allows players to claim valuable treasures hidden across the vessel's multiple decks. Tucked behind a collection of wooden crates and barrels on the main deck rests a treasure chest containing Tingle's Tights. Climbing the rigging ladders to the top of the vessel reveals another valuable chest containing a Savage Lynel Bow.

Completing the cave exploration requires locating the resident Bubbulfrog to secure its unique Bubbulfrog Gem reward. The creature can be spotted clinging to the cavern walls high above the pirate ship's stern. Shooting the Bubbulfrog with an arrow will defeat it immediately, allowing players to collect the final collectible in this coastal hideout.
